Alcon has this month boosted the public exposure coloured contact lenses by constructing a pop-up stand in the busy Bullring shopping centre.

The contact lens company tied up with Specsavers New Street for the Air Optix Colors stand, which was positioned outside the Debenhams department store every weekend for a four-week spell.

Jonathon Bench, optometrist and Alcon head of professional affairs, told Optician that the Midlands was one of several regional pockets in the UK where interest levels in coloured contact lenses were high. He said: ‘The number of people engaging here has been overwhelming.’

The target patients were described as fashionista females aged between 18-30 who had a high regard for their style and looks. The RRP for the monthly lens was £25 for a pack of two.
