An optical practice turned blue to mark World Autism Day earlier this month (April 2). Staff at Alex Gage Family Optometrist inflated blue balloons outside the company’s Crosspool and Woodseats practices, in Sheffield, where staff wore blue items of clothing and donned blue wigs. Business owner Alex Gage (pictured centre), who also sits on the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists committee, said: ‘Autism can come with a range of challenges in making sense of the world. In behavioural optometry, we work to make the information coming into the eyes good information, as in they can see clearly, and then we work to help process that information and make sense of what they are seeing.’
