Approximately 50 MPs, peers and prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs) attended the Eye Health Alliance's (EHA) stand at this year's party conferences to discuss the need to raise awareness of the importance of eye health.

In an evaluation of its lobbying activities during 2009, an EHA spokesperson told Optician that the MPs, peers and PPCs each had a photo taken of their retina and had a news release sent to their local press. Each of the 1,500 delegates in total that visited the stand had a fundus photo taken which was then sent to them via email along with the EHA's key messages.
