Amber guidance issued by College

Guidance on how to adapt working practices has been provided by the College of Optometrists

Guidance for optometrists on how to adapt their working practices during the amber phase of the pandemic has been issued by the College of Optometrists.

The amber phase of the pandemic would see optometrists provide care to people other than those needing urgent or emergency and essential eye care services, the College explained.

It added that guidance should be read alongside other guidelines the College has published during the pandemic, as well as the Association of British Dispensing Opticians’ guidance on dispensing.

A table has been produced to provide an overview of how eye care might have to be adapted during the various stages of the pandemic at a national or local level.
