One in six adults in the UK avoids playing sport because their eyesight isn't good enough or they consider correcting their vision too inconvenient.
This is just one of the findings of a survey of 1,000 visually corrected UK adults by laser vision company Ultralase. It found 100 per cent of those questioned said having poor vision affected their performance and 64 per cent simply did not wear spectacles or contact lenses while participating in sport. That equated to 5.5 million adults said Ultralase.
Failure to wear vision correction resulted in misjudged distances, missing the ball or even mistaking members of their own team, said the report. The most common sports to be missed by respondents were swimming, martial arts and rugby.
