This case comes just weeks after a dispensing optician was struck off for similar conduct (News, October 13).

Optometrist Sanjit Singh Bansal sold property from his employer, Niall O'Kane Optometrists in Strood, Kent, on the auction website but was found out when a manufacturer recognised the products featured. Bansal was spared jail in spite of what the Maidstone Crown Court judge described as his 'monstrous' behaviour.
