A petition has been posted online by the OPG
A change.org petition has been posted online by optometry trade union the Ophthalmic Practitioners’ Group (OPG).
In its statement the OPG claimed that: ‘Under the direction of the chair incumbent, the GOC has failed to protect the public, listen to stakeholders and will fail to maintain standards for education if left to its own devices.’
The petition’s text described its problems with GOC leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic, including concerns over delegation of responsibility for issuing guidance and the GOC’s Education Strategic Review.
Over 400 people had signed the petition as this story was posted.
