Registered practitioners who use AOL as their service provider are failing to receive mail from admin@cetoptics.com regarding their CET account.
In some cases where practitioners require points to meet their three-year requirement, now in the final period for completion to remain registered this year, messages detailing how many points are needed or how to confirm points have not been received.
The AOL spam filter is blocking the messages as spam. A representative of Vantage, which operates the CEToptics.com site on behalf of the General Optical Council, stated: 'We have been in touch with AOL. When you log into AOL you will be advised you have reported spam. You need to click on this and it then gives you the options of how to resolve the problem.
'However, we have been advised by some AOL users that they have been asked to pay a fee of approximately £9 to resolve this,' she added.
Vantage has recommended that setting up a Hotmail account for CET messages may be the best way to avoid future problems.
? Under the new rules regarding CET provision, all published CET material needs to be stated as specific to either optometrists or dispensing opticians. All CET articles published in Optician are suited to both professions unless otherwise stated. For the few modules this year which are specific to either of the professions, there will be a clear indication at the beginning of the article.
