AOP deputy chief executive Richard Carswell is to retire in March next year.
Carswell became part-time parliamentary and European consultant to the association in the late 1980s, before joining full-time as its deputy chief executive in 1993. Following the departure of former AOP chief executive Bob Hughes nearly two years ago, Carswell acted as interim chief executive until the arrival of Henrietta Alderman this summer.
He said: ‘The association has gone from strength to strength over the years, in keeping with its members’ rising expectations. I am grateful for the opportunity to have made my contribution to that progress.’
I will be leaving the AOP at a challenging time in its development and so wish it all the best for the future.’
