The Association of Optometrists (AOP) is in discussion with Optometry Scotland over whether reference to the NICE guidelines on glaucoma referral would be inadmissible in a tribunal or legal case relating to an optometrist working in Scotland.

AOP chief executive Bob Hughes told Optician: 'The position is very uncertain in relation to Scotland. NICE guidelines do not apply in Scotland, but it is not certain whether reference to them would be inadmissible in a tribunal or legal case.'
