AOP reports income boost

The AOP has published its annual report for the year ending December 2007 which shows that income from members' subscriptions increased by approximately £140,000 during the year.

Income from subscriptions was £4,336,182 up from £4,195,184 in 2006. During the financial year, ordinary members' subscriptions were increased to £532 from £527, and total subscribing members increased by 381 to 9,228.

Expenditure on professional services which includes defence of members' legal expenses, CET events, councillors' allowances/honoraria and cost of councils and committees was £2,090,879. Services also include the contribution towards the net cost of financing the journal Optometry Today, whose turnover for the year was £989,742, down from £1,030,124 in 2006.
