Appeal success

A decision of the General Optical Council (GOC) registrar not to register Guy Alexander Zagata in the register of student dispensing opticians has been overturned by a GOC registration appeals committee. Although failing to find evidence of dishonesty in Zagata's case, an important reason for the registrar's decision to refuse registration, it was concerned by his admitted use of illegal drugs. However after becoming satisfied that he made sufficient changes to his lifestyle and attitudes, the committee concluded that Zagata was fit to be registered as a student.
