Cantor & Nissel has announced a new process for the production of artificial eyes incorporating a photograph of the existing eye - pupil, iris and sclera.
The development is under the umbrella of Medipex NHS Innovation Hub, a company that specialises in promoting and assisting new developments for the NHS, and with the cooperation of The Sign Group UK and Paul Bartlett of the Maxillo-Facial Department of Leeds Dental Institute.
The company said the flexible photograph, achieved at the press of a button, was reproduced on heat-resistant and UV-stable material and encapsulated within the prosthesis to give an accurate and reproducible product.
