ASA upholds laser complaints

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld two complaints against claims in an Ultralse laser eye surgery brochure from October 2010.

Optical Express said the claim that the Ultra-Elite treatment used 'the most advanced Wavefront technology' was misleading as more advanced technology was available in that field. It also queried the claim that the treatment 'corrects the most minute imperfections', as no technology could correct all eye imperfections.

Ultralase said it believed its Technolas Perfect Vision (TPV) laser produced the best published outcome results in the UK. The eye-tracking system of the laser was highlighted, along with iris recognition and Ultralase provided a study based on 802 of its treatments.
