Staff at Redditch-based Bainbridge Bespoke Opticians have raised more than £2,500 in support of Guide Dogs for the Blind, earning the privilege of naming a puppy.
Reaching out to their patients for inspiration, the opticians chose the name ‘Maple’.
The name paid tribute to blind artist Paul Castle, who was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at age 16, and his canine companion, guide dog Mr Maple.
Steve Bainbridge, owner and optometrist, shared: ‘We’re incredibly proud to have raised awareness of eye health whilst raising money for Guide Dogs UK.
It felt extra special to be able to name Maple and receive special “pupdates” as she embarks on her incredible journey.’
