Bausch & Lomb has launched a nationwide astigmatism awareness campaign aimed at generating interest from patients and providing a profitable opportunity for eye care
practitioners.
B&L states that the 'Who says astigmatism and contact lenses don't go together?' campaign seeks to negate the common belief that spectacles are the only method of vision correction available to astigmatic patients, and highlights its SofLens 66 Toric.
The company says that the lens, which has been designed to fit an astigmatic patient's eye, is the most prescribed replacement lens in Europe.
Visioncare product manager Nicola Hands explained: 'The campaign offers practitioners an increased business and marketing opportunity. Research shows that 40 per cent of people requiring vision correction in the UK are astigmatic yet only one in 10 are prescribed toric lenses.
'This presents a missed opportunity for customers who can prescribe SofLens 66 Toric to astigmatic patients as an easy, clear answer to their vision correction needs.'
Bausch & Lomb sales representatives will be visiting practices to introduce new point-of-sale material that includes a consumer leaflet, information cube and posters.
