BBR Optometry expands dry treatment options

BBR Optometry in Hereford has become only the second UK practice outside of London to offer its patients TearScience dry eye treatment.

The treatment uses two ophthalmic technologies, a LipiView ocular surface interferometer and LipiFlow thermal pulsation, to treat meibomian gland dysfunction and resume the natural production and flow of lipids.

‘The Lipiview evaluates the tear film by creating a dynamic map of the lipid layer of the tear film and blink patterns thus assessing meibomian gland function, and following this assessment the Lipiflow is used to apply a gentle cycle of localised heat and pressure through a unique disposable eye piece placed on the outer lid,’ said practice owner and optometrist Nick Rumney.
