BCLA announces Prof Sunil Shah as new president

​The BCLA has appointed Professor Sunil Shah as its new president

The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has appointed ophthalmologist Professor Sunil Shah as its new president.

Prof Shah was installed on June 10 at the BCLA’s AGM in London and is a consultant surgeon affiliated to Midland Eye in Birmingham and Solihull, whose interests include complex corneal problems, refractive surgery and dry eye. He was recently made a full professor at Aston University and is named in the top 100 most influential people in ophthalmology. He takes over from outgoing president Keith Tempany, who held the position for 12 months.

Prof Shah said: ‘Taking over as President of the BCLA is a huge honour and I am thrilled and humbled to be given the opportunity to carry on the exceptional work delivered in recent years by Brian Tompkins and Keith Tempany.’
