BCLA issues CL guidance

The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has provided coronavirus guidance

The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has issued guidance for eye care practitioners and consumers during the coronavirus pandemic.

In its advice for practitioners, the BCLA signposted guidance from NHS England, Health Protection Scotland and information for those working in Wales and Northern Ireland.

Also highlighted was the lack of evidence suggesting that healthy individuals should avoid wearing contacts, as long as proper care and hygiene procedures were followed.

Advice to consumers also highlighted the proper procedure for inserting contact lenses with a reminder to wash hands. Consumer advice clarified that optical practitioners would be prepared for cases of coronavirus with new procedures rolled out to minimise the spread.
