Evidence-based guidance on all aspects of presbyopia and its management will be provided for eye care professionals in the BCLA’s forthcoming Contact Lens Evidence-based Academic Report (Clear).

BCLA Clear Presbyopia, due to be published in the next Contact Lens and Anterior Eye journal, will feature work from panels of globally respected experts in the field.

The project will build on the impact of the first BCLA Clear, published in April 2021, a reference point for contact lens care, research and guidance across the world.

Luke Stevens-Burt, chief executive of the BCLA, said: ‘The BCLA Clear project has been an incredible collaboration, and we look forward to publishing a body of work that we are confident will become a blueprint for the management of presbyopia, globally.’

‘These papers and the follow-on resources we produce will be invaluable for eye care professionals, giving them easy access to an amazing body of research, analysis and data and will ultimately prove to be of huge benefit to patients.’

Funded by Alcon, Bausch + Lomb, Coopervision and Johnson and Johnson Vision, the project will feature eight overview papers with topics including on epidemiology and impact, evaluation and diagnosis and management of spectacles with contact lenses.
