Optometry, dispensing optician and contact lens optician students have been encouraged to become student ambassadors for the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA).
The professional body sought two students from each British & Irish University and College Contact Lens Educators institution.
Ambassadors would advocate for the BCLA while contributing to discussions about developing the association’s interaction with students.
Luke Stevens-Burt, chief executive of the BCLA, said: “Serving as a student ambassador is a fantastic way for aspiring eye care professionals to meet leading figures in the contact lens field and network with like-minded peers.’
He added that ambassadors would have the chance to volunteer at the BCLA clinical conference in Birmingham and promote their profile on the BCLA’s platforms.
‘We look forward to working with an engaged and enthusiastic cohort of student ambassadors who share our drive to shape the future of contact lens practice around the world,’ Stevens-Burt said.
