This year's British Contact Lens Association Clinical Conference will be the largest event to date with record attendance figures expected and more CET points available than ever before.

The four-day conference opens today at the Manchester Central and is forecast to attract nearly 1,000 delegates from the UK and overseas. Over 45 contact lens, care product, instrument and related companies will be showcasing their latest products at the accompanying trade exhibition.

The conference scientific programme is offering 33 CET points, 27 of which are contact lens specific. Lectures are approved for CPD points for medical delegates and are COPE-accredited for US optometrists. Leading authorities from four continents will discuss the worldwide epidemic of myopia and their differing approaches to prevention at a full-day symposium.

A full social programme includes Thursday evening's welcome lecture and reception at Manchester Central and Saturday's Gala Dinner at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United Football Club.

President Christopher Kerr said: 'This year will now be the BCLA's biggest ever confererence as well as its best ever.' Day delegate rates are £155 for members and £205 for non-members.
