BCLA to hold debate on myopia epidemic

Next summer's BCLA Clinical Conference in Manchester to have global feel

The four-day event will be held in Manchester at the International Convention Centre from May 31 to June 3 and the programme, announced today, features top international speakers, world-class education and a Gala Dinner at Old Trafford, home to Manchester United.

Keynote speakers are Dr Earl Smith III and Dr Donald Korb from the US, with Professor Roger Buckley and Dr Graeme Young from the UK. The 2007 BCLA Medallist is Professor Dwight Cavanagh and Dr Christine Purslow will deliver the Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture. John Dart and Professors Pat Caroline, Brien Holden and Bernard Gilmartin will also present.

There will be special sessions on microbial keratitis, dry eye, corneal staining and the future for contact lens practice, while Professor Lou Catania will tackle the hot topic of wavefront-corrected spectacles and contact lenses in the opening day's session - 'The digital consulting room'.
