Contact lens organisation the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has moved its clinical conference and exhibition to a biennial schedule and three-day format from 2015.
The BCLA said the switch had come as the result of listening to the views of members and partners and after an internal financial review earlier this year.
‘As well as adhering to the wishes of our members and industry partners, going biennial will allow the BCLA to realise a number of important strategic goals – including meeting the more specific and local needs of all the membership categories to support the prescribing of contact lenses and anterior eye management,’ said BLCA chief executive officer Cheryl Donnelly.
The organisation will now focus on a diversified CET offering through initiatives such as the annual Visionaries and Pioneers Conference.
BCLA president Susan Bowers added: ‘I’d like to personally thank all those who have loyally supported the annual BCLA clinical conference and exhibition for the past 38 years. We’re looking forward to another great conference in 2015, and to working together on new and exciting educational programmes going forwards.
‘We will officially launch the 2015 Clinical Conference and Exhibition (May 29-31) at our Visionaries and Pioneers Conference on November 17, which will be open to all members.’
Planning for next year’s event was said to be already under way, with new features including a day dedicated to myopia management and new educational courses.
