Bespoke contact lenses offer patient ‘new lease of life’

A female patient with Stevens-Johnson syndrome was given a new lease of life after being fitted with custom-made contact lenses at Tompkins, Knight and Son optometrists (TK&S) in Northampton.

Clare Elliott (pictured right) was put into intensive care after contracting the rare auto-immune condition, which left her with dry eye disease and ingrowing eye lashes, severe abrasions and eventually corneal ulcers.

Following unsuccessful attempts to relieve her pain, Elliott heard about the custom-made EyePrint Pro lenses available at the independent, which could match the exact contour and surface of a patient’s eye.

‘I was in a bad way, but I now have contact lenses that are comfortable and allow me to drive at night and thrive at work. I have a completely different outlook on life. The difference these lenses have made is incredible,’ said Elliott.
