Birmingham Optical has supplied equipment for the new University Technical College (UTC) in Bolton – in a bid to help raise the profile of optical qualifications.
The equipment was set up at the college, for A-level and GCSE science pupils to gain experience before studying optometry at university.
The group has supplied a Frastema refraction unit with Keeler slit lamp, Oculus keratograph, Nidek pre-screen technology Tonoref II and LM500, and a Keeler retinoscope and ophthalmoscope.
Bolton UTC, which opened in September for 14-19 year olds, was designed to provide secondary school students with hands-on optometry, dentistry and engineering experience at an early age.
Birmingham Optical is also supporting an open day for the new facilities on December 15.
