In response to the results, Bausch & Lomb has repositioned the lens as 'the ultimate lens suitable for daily, flexible with ReNu Multiplus No Rub or continuous wear for up to 30 days'.
The 'Progression Programme' research evaluated PureVision lenses among 1,339 patients and 255 practices across Europe.
The company said that it demonstrated the popularity of the lens for not only the conventional continuous wear (up to 30 days), but also for daily and flexible wear.
Bausch & Lomb will be promoting the repositioning and research by investing in new point of sale material and an advertising campaign, emphasising it as a lens to satisfy a variety of patient needs.
Meanwhile, Bausch & Lomb has donated 40,000 intraocular lenses to more than two dozen charitable organisations around the world for use in cataract surgery.
