Blind Veterans UK received an Accredited Plus certification for creating a website that met accessibility guidelines for blind and sighted users.
The charity wanted to ensure the website was accessible to vision-impaired users who were not yet receiving the charity’s support, the blind veterans it currently helps and sighted supporters.
It considered that some vision-impaired people use screen readers or magnifiers, which required a clear and simple website design.
Mark Whatham, head of marketing and communications at Blind Veterans UK, said: ‘As we move forwards with the website, we’ll make sure we work closely with our beneficiaries to ensure that accessibility remains at the heart of everything we do.’
