Blindness cure will accelerate

Car

The London Project to Cure Blindness and Moorfields Eye Charity have been selected by the Le Mans racing team Storholm Racing to appear on its car in lieu of a corporate sponsor during the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.

The philanthropic gesture means the Moorfields Eye Charity and London Project branding will be seen at the Silverstone race track and the Petite Le Mans in the US. Class winners of these races are invited to participate in the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2012. The London Project is a collaboration between Professor Pete Coffey from University College London and Dr Lyndon da Cruz, a retinal surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, who aim to accelerate the development of new treatments for age-related macular degeneration. Dr da Cruz said: 'What could be more pertinent than all the colour, action and excitement of a famous car race to remind us how lucky we are to have the gift of vision.' Details: 020 7566 2565.
