Blue Light Card now available to OOs and DOs

Optometrists and dispensing opticians are now eligible to benefit from Blue Light Card discounts and rewards from various retailers, such as New Look, Spotify and Halfords.

The discount scheme first launched in 2009 for those working in the UK’s emergency services, NHS and armed forces, and in 2023 saved its members over £330m.

Andy Collins, Blue Light Card’s chief operating officer, said: ‘We’re really pleased to be broadening our eligibility into this new category which will allow even more people to benefit from the incredible discounts available from our many retail partners.’

A GOC registration number and one form of personal ID that matches must be used to apply and membership for two years costs £4.99.
