Representatives from the independent and Essex LOC were on hand to present the case for shared care schemes in the region.

He said: ‘It is reassuring to hear how the constituents in my area and the rest of Essex are benefiting from the excellent work of Essex LOC. Its efforts to provide community eye care services for the benefit of patients is admirable. The shared care glaucoma scheme demonstrates how close ties with hospital eye departments can forge excellent working relationships that benefit patients, opticians and hospitals alike.’
