Bollé celebrates its 130th anniversary in the optical industry

Bollé has celebrated its 130th anniversary in the optical industry by sharing some photos from its past.

The company was started in 1888 by Séraphin Bollé and went on to make eyewear for the sports industries, becoming a pioneer in ski goggles. Bollé started production of optical glasses with prescription lenses in 1934 and launched its first sunglasses collection two years later. In 1960, Bollé launched its first ski goggle line and collaborated with the French national ski team, providing them with the goggles they needed.

Edgar Grospiron, a former French freestyle skier, said: ‘I was very proud to be one of the athletes in the Bollé team during my skiing career. It has always been a fruitful collaboration with Franck, Patricia and all the employees of the company, that helped me to perform in any kind of weather conditions. The Bollé products were very innovative… thanks to the team’s fantastic open-mindedness and creativity. I’m glad that you will celebrate this special anniversary in 2018!’
