There will soon be 32 franchised operations within the 294-practice chain.

Professional services director David Cartwright told Optician that many staff were finding the prospect of becoming a 'brand partner' very attractive.

Current brand partners share their experience of starting up their Boots practice on a special website, bootsopticiansfranchise.com.

Meanwhile Boots Opticians managing director Chas McShane has announced his retirement at the end of next month.

From November 1 the division will be run by Elizabeth Fagan, who has previously worked for Boots the Chemist but is currently group media director at DSGI, the group that runs Dixons.
