Students enrolling on the new four-year Masters in Optometry programme at the University of Hertfordshire will develop a more holistic approach to community eye care through a confirmed tie-up with Boots Opticians (News 27.03.15), a statement said.
The university said it wanted Boots Opticians as its multiple partner because it recognised that primary care needs demanded more community care than ever from optometrists. Beyond direct eye care interventions, this might include referral to smoking cessation service, it said.
Victoria O’Connor, senior manager colleague education at Boots Opticians, added: ‘At Boots, we believe that we provide a truly unique working environment for our optometrists through our close working partnership with community pharmacy and community audiology.
