Boots predicts Lasik will boost sales and profit

Boots Opticians will maintain sales and profits in 2003, but the Boots Group expects Ôsignificant profit and cash flowsÕ from its Lasik clinics.
The companyÕs predictions came in the Boots 2002 annual review presented at its agm on July 25 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London.
Boots Opticians had a disappointing first half, but sales rose sharply in the fourth quarter as the business broadened its offer.
John McGrath, chairman of Boots Group, said: ÔAs we showed last year with Boots Opticians, when we put investment behind the brand, both top and bottom lines respond quickly.Õ
The report revealed that six Boots Company directors earned a total of £625,000 in short-term bonuses during 2001-2002.
