Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar officially opened a €85m extension at Bausch + Lomb’s Waterford, Ireland facility this week.
The extension was designed to help meet demand for B+L’s Biotrue ONEday daily disposable contact lenses, a statement said.
Parent group Valeant Pharmaceuticals said it had now invested more than €200m in the Waterford facility. The latest investment added 125 additional jobs, bringing the total to 300 since the Waterford facility expansion first began in 2015, and to 1,300 in total.
As a result of the expansion, approximately 112,000 sq ft had been added to a 17-acre site adjacent to its current facility, bringing the total footprint of the complex to 500,000 sq ft.
