Bradford-based student optometrist Mohammed Usman Ali has been erased from General Optical Council registers after a fitness to practise committee heard that he falsified his A-level exam grades.

In making its decision, the committee, chaired by James Kellock, said: ‘The committee determined that the falsification of grades by the registrant was inappropriate and dishonest.

The committee found that the evidence was inconsistent with the registrant’s explanation that he made an innocent mistake.

‘In the committee’s judgment, the registrant has brought the profession into disrepute, breached its fundamental tenets and acted in such a way that his integrity could no longer be relied upon.’
