​A burglar who stole nearly £30,000 worth of spectacles is jailed

A burglar who stole nearly £30,000 worth of spectacles and sunglasses from a Halstead, Essex, opticians has been jailed for 28 months.

Ryan Boreham targeted Wardale Williams Opticians on Halstead High Street on two separate occasions – once overnight between June 28 and June 29, 2018 and then again on July 14 – coming away with around 170 pieces of eyewear.

Six hours after the second incident, the owner of the opticians reported three men walking past the shop. One of them appeared to be wearing a pair of sunglasses with the practice’s tag on them. The owner reported the sighting to police and officers located the men, one of whom was Boreham.
