Brien Holden Vision Institute has flagged up the potential symptoms of pollution-induced eye irritation in big cities and embarked on a series of studies assessing the clinical performance of contact lens brands when used in conjunction with different multipurpose disinfecting solutions.

Previous studies have shown that no single contact lens solution was best for all contact lens materials, it said.

Twelve types of contact lens and nine solutions are included in the evaluation, which aims to provide a reference for optimal on-eye performance of lenses.
