More than 250 delegates attended the College of Optometrists' Optometry Tomorrow conference in Brighton last week. The two-day event featured 12 hours of lectures and 29 workshops.
The event also included the College's first ever Research Symposium, supported by the British Universities Committee of Optometry. It featured a keynote address from Dr Eli Peli of Harvard University, senior scientist and the Moakley scholar in ageing eye research at The Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston. Dr Peli's presentation demonstrated the effectiveness of collaboration between academia and clinical practice.
Dr Rob Hogan, president of the College, said: 'We delivered an innovative and exciting event that offered delegates really diverse learning opportunities - from practising techniques and working with patients in the gonioscopy workshop to hearing the latest thinking and finding out about new developments in the Research Symposium.'
