BSI awards Ron Rabbetts a special commendation

High standards: Ronald Rabbetts has been awarded a special commendation from BSI Director of Standards Policy, David Bell, which recognises the outstanding contribution to standards making of an individual BSI committee member.

Rabbetts was appointed to the BSI spectacle frame and lenses committees in 1988 and has been the Chairman of the spectacle frame committee (CH/172/2) since 1995. During that time he has prepared most of the comment sheets and discussion papers for the relevant frame and lens committees and later became the chairman of a combined spectacle lens and frame committee.

Professor Mo Jalie said: ‘Ronald Rabbetts, MSc, SMSA, FCOptom DipCLP has worked indefatigably on behalf of the Optometric profession as a member (1988 onwards) of the spectacle frames committee CH/172/2 to which he became chairman in 1995 and, upon the retirement of Dr Peter Wilkinson, he also became the chairman of the combined spectacle frame and lens committee CH/172/3.
