GOC draft standards for optical businesses are positively received

New GOC draft standards for optical businesses have been positively received by the vast majority of eye care professionals.

The expectations of businesses were clear in the new standards, according to around 80% of the 351 consultation responses, and pending approval they will come into effect next year.

However, without statutory change regulation of optical businesses would continue to be dependent on the practice name.

Meanwhile, the GOC also decided it will revert to a standard CET cycle for 2019-21 in last week’s quarterly council meeting, ditching earlier plans for a transition period during 2019 before rolling out a new CET system.
