Call for consultation feedback

FODO bangs the drum for more responses as the GOC's deadline approaches

FODO (the association for eye care providers) has called for its members to tell the association what changes they would like to see implemented as part of its feedback to the GOC’s consultation on the Opticians Act.

The association said it received a significant number of responses so far but has banged the drum for more as the deadline approached.

Dan Hodgson, FODO head of policy and public affairs, said: ‘We have received significant feedback from members, holding over 15 workshops. Our members provide 80% of all sight tests in the UK and we’ve had detailed input from more than 100 members representing individuals, independent practices and regional and national eye care providers. It has been a fantastic opportunity to engage with members, and it’s not over yet. Please get in touch and get involved.’

Themes that had emerged from feedback included: how the act protected patients, enabled choice and improved access to care; why the sight test should not be split up; and why the sight test should continue to be the responsibility of an optometrist or medical Practitioner.
