Optometrist Ian White challenges LOCSU and the Optical Confederation to enact a vote of no confidence in the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee at the National Optometric Conference later this month

Warrington OO Ian White has challenged LOCSU and the Optical Confederation to enact a vote of no confidence in the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee at the National Optometric Conference.

In a letter to Optician this week, White wrote that as a supporter of LOCSU and attendee at the NOC for the past six years he had ‘noticed diminishing returns over recent years since the agenda has largely focused on incremental changes to optics, none have challenged the omnipresent elephant in the room, that of GOS and GOS fees’.

He claimed that ‘anecdotal evidence suggests that virtually all optical professionals have no confidence in the work of the OFNC. I propose a vote of no confidence in the OFNC at conference, such that if it proves in favour, the OFNC in its entirety should resign or face the sack.’
