Optometry Ireland said eye care should more accessible, available and affordable

Access to eye care services should be more accessible, available and affordable for Irish citizens, according to Optometry Ireland on World Sight Day.

John Weldon, president of Optometry Ireland called for politicians to properly fund eye examination services, roll out a national over eights scheme and follow up on pledges to develop a new model of eye care.

‘As an IAPB member, Optometry Ireland invites everyone to think about the importance of eye health and how to protect and keep it healthy now and long into the future. Eye health impacts education, employment, quality of life, poverty and so many other sustainable development goals,’ Weldon said.
