Campaign launches to create UK myopia strategy

Practitioners have been invited to participate in a discussion about myopia

A target has been set to achieve one million parent-practitioner conversations about myopia in 2022 in order to educate more people about the epidemic.

The campaign has been set up by Tom Griffiths, director of Scotlens, with five questions about the delivery of myopia management for eye care practitioners (ECPs) to engage with from January to May.

Practitioner feedback will be collated and presented to Government in June with he ambition to form a myopia strategy that supports ECPs to better provide services to children and educate parents.

The first question asked how to reduce myopia knowledge gaps in public and within the profession, and ECPs have been invited to discuss the topic on platforms such as Facebook groups or LinkedIn, Myopia Profile and the MyopiaChat website.
