Carl Zeiss Vision launches first ever ophthalmic spectacle lens for CL patients

Carl Zeiss Vision has launched what it said was the first ever ophthalmic spectacle lens designed for contact lens patients.

The lens, named Energizeme, was said to help refresh the patient’s eyes after removal of CLs. This effect comes primarily from the prevention of digital eyestrain, said the manufacturer.

Carl Zeiss said the new lenses reduced the symptoms of digital eye strain using three proprietary technologies. Energizeme lens design takes into account the movement patterns of the head and eyes of contact lens wearers, minimising strain when switching between spectacles and CLs.

Digital Inside Technology uses a small addition to optimise the reading distances for printed media and digital devices – 38cm and 35cm respectively. The company said this provided relief to the ciliary muscle and provided support when switching between near and far distances.
