Carl Zeiss has officially opened its new Cambridge campus.

The move unites its sales and marketing wing, formerly based in Welwyn Garden City, with the instrument manufacturing wing in a combined facility.

Opening duties last week fell to television survival expert Ray Mears who welcomed representatives from throughout the optical world to the premises. As well as manufacturing and showroom facilities, the campus also aims to host educational events in the future.

Paul Adderley, managing director for Carl Zeiss, said: 'Customers from several of the Carl Zeiss business groups, including microscopy, medical technology, camera lenses and sports optics, will be able to visit us in Cambridge.'
