Cataract patient pens poems to demystify surgery

A cataract patient uses poetry to change fears around cataract surgery

A cataract patient has self-published a book of poems inspired by his successful treatment to demystify fears around the surgery.

Cancer survivor, Philip Baldwin, aged 66, was motivated to share his experience fighting bladder cancer and getting cataract treatment, at Manchester’s SpaMedica in November, after putting off the eye surgery for years due to fears over needles and intrusive treatment.

The book, Odes to Willy and Homer and other poems, includes ‘I can see clearly now’, and maps Baldwin’s healthcare journey, with all profits going to the Fight Bladder Cancer charity.
