Centro sets up in UK

Italian parts and products supplier Centro Style has established a subsidiary in the UK following the liquidation of its former distributor WT Rees.

Since the demise of WT Rees, Centro Style had been operating from a temporary office to look after its customers. But after researching the market, it has decided to go it alone and set up its first subsidiary outside Italy.
Freddy Lehmann, who has been appointed as a part time consultant, said the company explored a range of options for the UK market.
Mr Lehmann said its new Watford base would enable Centro to maintain control and deliver the level of quality, reliability, value and service which has made the firm a market leading supplier of accessories in Italy and Europe.
Mr Lehmann, who has 25 years' experience in the optical business, will manage the subsidiary assisted by former WT Rees employee Linda Sharp.
During the coming months a sales force covering the whole of the UK will be established and undergo training by the Italian parent.
Centro Style supplies over 5,000 product lines, including spare parts, tools, accessories, small machines and special glasses. This represented practically everything a practitioner needed except fashion frames and lenses, said Mr Lehmann.
